We are hours away from the launch of one of the most exciting projects ever in the Play-to-Earn arena.
Kitsumon is a free-to-play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game built around NFT asset technology, Inspired by successful NFT projects like Axie Infinity and mainstream games such as Pokémon and DOTA.
The Kitsumon world will feature simulation-style gameplay and be on both PC and mobile platforms. Featuring virtual monsters called Kitsu, players take the role of trainers to create, trade, train, and battle with other players in the Kitsumon world.
The project is set to launch on the TrustSwap launchpad as a FlashLaunch on the 3rd of December at 5 PM UTC (more details here).
We used these last moments of calm before the ignition to sit with James Kirby, one of the founders of the project, and capture his in-depth vision about the project and its roadmap.
What is Kitsumon?
Kitsumon is an online multiplayer, social-simulation game about collecting and caring for adorable Kitsu pets.
It features a wide variety of ‘professions’ that will yield items to help in the growth and breeding of Kitsu, as well as several PvP battle modes in a style inspired by DOTA.
Many of the items in the game, as well as the Kitsus are tradeable as NFT assets between players on the game’s exclusive marketplace.
How was the idea for Kitsumon born?
The idea and core concepts all came from Kane (CEO). When he saw the potential of CryptoKitties and the game’s ability to create a ‘new’ collectible creature that would be ownable by an individual, he was immediately excited.
Was this the next Tamagotchi? Almost, but you didn’t need to feed it and it didn’t really do anything. The potential was already there – it just needed to be taken to the next level.
The idea was to have a pet creature, that was unique, cute yet cool, that needed to be looked after and played with.
The concept of making the Kitsus a type of cute bird that advance from chicks to adults emerged, and an interactive way to feed them came along with it. All it needed was something fun to do with them, and at the time racing seemed appropriate.
This idea then grew over the years, birds changed into foxes, racing changed to DOTA-style battling, and professions expanded out to make it a truly lifelike gaming experience. Kitsumon was born.
Explain the utility of Kitsumon’s token!
The $KMC token will be utilized for many aspects of the game’s economics, from future Kitsu Egg sales, shop purchases for utility items, NFT asset trading, and more.
It is hosted on the MATIC network to ensure low transaction fees.

Why should investors be excited about Kitsumon?
Kitsumon intends to achieve a revolutionary combination of playstyles, fusing the best parts of games like Animal Crossing, Pokémon, and DOTA together to create a game that truly appeals to a massive percentage of the gaming player base.
Our game has already acquired an organic following of over 50.000 users across platforms like Twitter, Telegram, and Discord and is set to conquer the NFT gaming market in the very near future.
What are the challenges this industry is currently facing? How is Kitsumon solving this?
Other games in the industry like Axie Infinity and CryptoKitties have seen massive success, but there is an issue of keeping users interested in the game in the long-term that has not currently been met in our eyes.
Kitsumon aims to offer a far broader spectrum of activities that users can engage in with their Kitsu NFTs, to ensure that players will have a great time with the game even beyond the NFT and cryptocurrency aspects that it offers.
Kitsumon is aiming to attract not just blockchain gamers, but to spearhead this entire industry toward the general gaming market as well.
Where do you see this industry going next?
The next step for this industry will be refinement – many creators have surely noticed the immense potential that lies in the NFT gaming market.
The current offerings still leave much to be desired when it comes to the core gameplay that is available to players, so the next step will involve fierce competition between game creators to make a truly enjoyable and highly polished NFT game that can take the throne in this industry.
After that, nothing would be in the way of such a game becoming mainstream and bringing in explosive numbers of normal gamers.
What were some of the most rewarding parts of this journey for you?
Interacting with the community that has stuck around for many months during development and seeing their excitement as we now come close to the release of the game.
Seeing such a large amount of interest and support both from the community and from investors.
Working together with the team and overcoming the difficulties along the way, and now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
