How to Verify a Liquidity Lock on BscScan

Last updated: August 2026By the TrustSwap Team

"Liquidity locked ✅" costs nothing to type and appears in ten thousand BSC token threads a day. The actual check takes three minutes on BscScan, needs no tools, and would have prevented most of this chain's rug-pull history. Here it is.

How do you check if a BSC token's liquidity is locked?

Follow the LP tokens: open the pool's BscScan page, read the holder list, and see where the LP supply sits — a recognized locker's vault with a future unlock date means locked, the null/dead address means burned, and a normal wallet means the pool can be pulled at any moment regardless of what the project claims. The walkthrough:

  1. Find the pair contract. From the token's BscScan page or any screener listing — screeners link the pair directly.
  2. Open the pair's Holders tab. This list is the truth about who controls the liquidity.
  3. Classify what you see. LP at the dead address (0x…dEaD) = burned, irreversible — the strongest state, and the alternative BNB Chain's own standard endorses. LP in a labeled locker contract = locked; go to step 4. LP in unlabeled wallets — especially the deployer's — is the red flag that overrides everything else.
  4. Cross-check the lock page. A Team Finance lock has a public page with the token, amount, owner, and unlock date — confirm the vault address on BscScan matches, then read the date. Weeks remaining is a countdown, not a commitment.
  5. Do the percentage math. How much of total LP is actually locked or burned? A 40% lock with 60% loose is marketing, not safety.
  6. Check the team supply while you're there. LP status says nothing about insider bags — top holders with large unlabeled positions can dump into a fully-burned pool. Team locks are the other half; the full safety workflow covers the rest.

What red flags matter most on BSC?

Short locks, partial locks, unlabeled "locker" contracts, and honeypot mechanics that make the whole lock question moot. BSC's specific pathologies: locks created for 30 days and marketed as "locked" (check the date, always); LP split across many wallets to blur the holder list; fake locker contracts with names mimicking real ones (verify the actual contract address against the locker's official site, not the label alone); and — unique to BSC's scam economy — tokens where the liquidity is fine but you can't sell, which no lock check catches. That last one is why the lock check is step three of the safety workflow, not the whole of it.

Can you trust screener badges and lock checkers?

First filter, never verdict — badges are automated inferences from holder data and known-locker lists, and BSC's volume makes them laggier and more spoofable here than anywhere. Tools like GoPlus surface lock status programmatically and are genuinely useful for speed; the three-minute manual check is what turns "an app said so" into "I read the holder list myself." On the chain with the deepest scam history, that difference is the entire margin.

What does a Team Finance lock look like on BscScan?

The pool's LP tokens held in the audited Team Finance vault, paired with a public lock page carrying the amount, owner, and unlock date — with contracts operating since 2020, the labels and lock pages are among the most recognized on BSC. If you're the project: publish the lock page and the BscScan link together, and walk your community through this page's checklist exactly once — creating the lock takes minutes; teaching holders to verify it is what converts the skeptics BSC trained.

FAQ

Do I need anything besides BscScan? No — BscScan's holder lists plus the locker's public lock page complete the verification. GoPlus or a screener speeds it up; neither replaces it.

How do I verify a burn instead of a lock? Same holder list: LP at the dead address is burned. Confirm the burned token is actually the LP token and the amount is substantially all of it — partial burns dressed as full ones are a BSC classic.

What if LP is split between burned, locked, and loose? Sum the states and judge the loose fraction — that's the pullable part, and the project should account for it publicly.

Does a verified lock mean the token is safe? No — it removes the pulled-pool risk only. Honeypot mechanics, insider supply, and contract ownership are separate checks: the full workflow.
