Carbon X Labs AMA Review

Recently, TrustSwap's Brett Fabian hosted an "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) event in our Telegram group featuring Nobrac, lead developer of Carbon X Labs. We collected questions from the TrustSwap Community related to Carbon X Labs, Carbon Browser, and their $CSIX token which is launching This Monday on the TrustSwap Launchpad.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us what you do at Carbon?

Hi everyone, I’m Nobrac, the lead developer at Carbon and one of the co-founders at Carbon X Labs. I have 15+ years working as a full-stack developer and 7+ years with web3 technologies! I’m one of the original developers at Carbon which launched in 2016 on the Google Play Store.

What is Carbon?

Carbon is a privacy-focused browser, which automatically blocks online ads and website trackers by default. Carbon is a free and open-source web browser developed by Carbon X Labs based on a custom fork of the Chromium web browser and its powerful Blink engine. Carbon browser loads web pages 3x faster, saves 95% of user data, and provides smooth browsing even with a weak connection all while taking up to 56.7% less space on devices compared to our competitors. Carbon browser is a fast, private and secure web browser for Android devices and soon for iOS, Mac OS, and PC.

Can you describe what your average day/week looks like at Carbon? What kind of decisions do you need to make on a daily basis? What was the latest decision you had to make?

My average week consists of taking 3-4 calls a day, one of which is our daily team meeting with our other devs, designers, BD members, and the wider team. This is my most exciting call of the day as we get to plan and prepare our entire day from new features coming to Carbon, community news and announcements and new partnership integrations and news! The last decision I had to make was finalizing our new UX designs for the browser, website and socials, which will be out very soon!

Can you talk about the biggest trends in Web3 and how Carbon fits into that?

The biggest trends in Web3 right now and how Carbon fits into that are:

1. Privacy

Carbon utilizes an in-built VPN, dVPN, and firewall, and offers optional 3rd party network connections allowing users to choose how they stay private and anonymous.

2. Decentralization

Carbon is decentralized thanks to our cloud partners Polygon Edge and Akash Network. Both Polygon Edge and Akash Network are ​open-source and decentralized cloud solutions. Akash is built using the Cosmos software development kit (SDK) and Polygon Edge is built using Polygon.

3. DApps and Web3 Integrations

Carbon is fully connected to Web3 thanks to our integrated multichain wallet, swaps, and bridge which connect and integrate with DApps as you browse automatically. Carbon’s multichain wallet is non-custodial and decentralized.

Can you list 3 killer features of your project that differ from your competitors? What are the competitive advantages that you feel most confident about?

1. Fast

Carbon loads web pages 3x faster than web 2 browsers like Chrome and so-called Web3 browsers such as Brave. ​​Why is this important? Website conversion rates drop by an average of 4.42% with each additional second of load time (between seconds 0-5). (Portent, 2019). Therefore, the faster your browser loads web pages the less time you waste waiting.

2. Rewards

Carbon offers browser rewards to all users who use Carbon browser on a daily basis. No registration or KYC needed! CSIX token holders can choose to spend on a number of merchants from our growing partner rewards network all within the browser rewards menu. Carbon rewards are distributed from the staking and rewards wallet (140M allocation) over a limited 12-year duration and rewarded to users based on a number of metrics calculated by our strict rewards algorithms i,e duration of use, frequency of use, use of in-app services and products, and token balance.

3. Web3 Features

Carbon users can stake and swap their CSIX tokens in-app with carbon’s non-custodial multichain wallet. Staking rewards are sourced from the staking and rewards wallet and partly replenished from Carbon Pro subscription purchases and 2.5% marketing tax on all buy/sell transactions not including transfers.

Everyone understands that Ads generate revenue for companies. Can you explain how Carbon AdX Marketplace works and how it improves the experience for publishers and advertisers?

The Carbon AdX marketplace is a self-serve ad marketplace that connects advertisers and publishers to buy/sell ads optimized for Carbon browser. One of the main utilities for the CSIX token is it serves as discounted payment currency for the Carbon AdX Marketplace. AdX will be going live by Q2 this year and we have a number of publishers already lined up to monetize their ad space!

Carbon has over 5M downloads and 34K unique monthly users. What are some of Carbon’s future plans to acquire users?

We have 4 step process to acquire more users

• Step 1. Promote our Browse-To-Earn Rewards
• Step 2. Carbon Pro Affiliate Program
• Step 3. SEO and ASO
• Step 4. PR and KOLs / Paid Ads

Given your experience and expertise, what is your goal for the next 2-5-10 years for the Carbon project?

Short-term goals (2023):

• Break past 10M+ downloads
• Surpass 2M+ MAUs (monthly active users)
• Launch across multiple CEXs and DEXs
• Break top 1,000 MC projects on CMC and CoinGecko

Long-term goals (2-5 years):

• Achieve 100M+ downloads
• Reach 10M+ MAUs (monthly active users)
• Break top 100 MC projects on CMC and CoinGecko

We live in a space where Alpha is king, can you share with us some cool things that might be coming to Carbon that are not known to the general public?

We plan to burn $CSIX profits accumulated from the protocols buy pressures/income such as AdX commission, Carbon Pro and swap/bridge fees. Burn events will happen yearly until 50% of the total supply remains.

Carbon has a number of big partnerships yet to be announced throughout 2023 which include L1s, L2s, and active projects in space.

Carbon has yet to announce its upcoming listing which will be shared first by our listing partner. Stay tuned!

Can you tell us some of the remarkable ways to earn more $CSIX on your platform?

1. Browse-To-Earn = Simply by using the browser anyone can earn rewards in the form of $CSIX tokens. However, there is a strict algorithm in place to prevent abuse/cheating, as such we can’t share exactly how it detects this but it calculates duration and frequency of use, takes into account what browser features you use and etc. Rewards go live by Q3 this year!
2. Staking = Our Multichain wallet will allow for staking the $CSIX token.
3. Staying active in our community = We constantly reward active engagement in our community and as such have planned many AMAs and contests throughout 2023 to giveaway $CSIX.

What are the benefits of buying your tokens, especially now that we are in a bear market?

Top use cases are:

Discounted fees on AdX Marketplace, Using the Swap/Bridge and in-app upgrade to Carbon Pro, our premium browser experience. As well as, using our Carbon Rewards Program.

What are the advantages of holding #CSIX for a long time?

Long-term holders benefit from a deflationary tokenomics and active ecosystem as our DAUs/MAUs continue to climb year on year acquiring more Web3 users along the way!

Do you allow suggestions and feedback from the community?

Yes we do! You can message us in the TG group t.me/trycarbonio at any time or contact our admin to reach out to me as the lead developer. Also, once our DAO is live (of which 30% of our supply is controlled by following a 48 month vesting schedule) you’ll be able to shape Carbon futures via proposals and voting!

Are we allowed in decision-making, do you put community into consideration?

Yes via our DAO!

30% of the total supply is owned by the carbon community governance DAO allowing non-team CSIX token holders to propose and vote on how this supply is utilized. For example

• Token burn events (allowing for deflation)
• Community rewards
• Increase staking APY %

The community governance DAO will follow a strict vesting schedule similar to the development, marketing, and staking and rewards wallet i.e 0% on TGE followed by a 6-month cliff, then 2.3% unlocked every month for 42 months (total 48 months). The community governance DAO will go live approx by Q3 – Q4 2023.
